Alongside tattoos, Ink People does piercing at its studio in Erenköy, Kadıköy. Ear and cartilage (helix), septum, navel and facial piercings follow the same sterilisation discipline as our tattooing.
With piercings the real work starts after the appointment: the jewellery material, how well it suits the area and the healing process. On this page you will find rough healing times by area, the jewellery materials we recommend and the aftercare steps; if anything is unclear, ask us on WhatsApp.
Which areas do we work on?
Ear (including cartilage and helix), septum, navel and facial piercings are the main areas we work on. If you have something else in mind, message us on WhatsApp and we will look at whether it is suitable and which jewellery options exist.
Which jewellery for a first piercing?
The first piece of jewellery matters: cheap or unsuitable metal makes healing harder and raises the risk of allergies. We recommend G23 titanium, implant-grade steel, niobium and solid gold (14k and above). Plated jewellery is not suitable for a fresh piercing.
Sterilisation and safety
We use single-use needles, and equipment is autoclave-sterilised. We do not recommend a piercing gun for cartilage: its parts cannot be sterilised sufficiently and it can lead to traumatic healing.

Before your appointment
Arrive well rested and after a proper meal. Avoid alcohol and blood thinners such as aspirin for 24 hours beforehand. Wear comfortable clothes that give easy access to the area.
Healing and aftercare
Clean twice a day with sterile saline (salt-water spray) and let it air dry. Do not use alcohol, hydrogen peroxide or betadine; do not twist or move the jewellery needlessly; stay out of pools and the sea for at least 4–6 weeks (longer for cartilage). Mild swelling, redness and clear or white discharge are normal in the first weeks. If you have severe pain, heavy yellow-green discharge or a fever, call us or see a doctor. Do not remove the jewellery yourself.

How long does a piercing take to heal?
It depends on the area: roughly 6–8 weeks for the earlobe, 4–6 months for the nose and 6–12 months for cartilage and helix. See the table above.
Which jewellery material is safe?
